A Pound of Occupation Yields a Ton of Hate
The Palestinian people, Palestinian economy and the Palestinian patience has been pushed to the breaking point. I know that, because I was there just a month ago and witnessed a humanitarian crisis unlike any I have ever seen. Today we witnessed what happens when the rubber band is pulled too tight and it breaks. A Palestinian suicide bomber, for the first time in 9 months, has committed an attack inside of Israel, in Eilat.
Hamas has certainly done an exceptional job of halting suicide attacks. In similar periods of time, when Fatah was in power, there was no control over when, where or even whether suicide bombers would attack. Bombings in Israel are at an all time low, Israeli deaths are at an all time low as a result of Palestinian violence, and all because of a government who is supposedly run by terrorists.
Let us make it clear who is responsible for this attack...
Prior to the Bush administration taking office, the peace plan was well on track and both sides were talking about final solutions. The middle east was a relatively peaceful area. As a direct result of this administration and governments foreign policy decisions, we now have a middle east where:
Iraq is in a civil war as a direct result of US military interverntion, as we all now know was to protect Israel.
Palestine is on the verge of a civil was as a direct result of US economic blockade, supplying Fatah with weapons and supporting the Israeli occupation, to help Israel steal land.
Iran is being threatened with invasions as a direct result of the US foreign policy to protect Israel. The US has also tried to set up an Iranian government in exile with a former vice-president, which is an attempt to start a civil war, because of Israeli fears of a nuclear weapon.
Lebanon, who had a pro-western governemnt, was invaded by Israel and protected, supported and supplied by the US government. We now on the verge of civil war in Lebanon as a direct result of the US government support of and protection of Israel.
Syria, who has made peace overtures, is labeled by the US as untrustworthy (imagine that). Syria also has had a vice-president in the United States who is being funded by our "intelligence" agencies to create a government in exile. Once again, the US is attempting to foment insurrection and a civil war, this time in Syria, to help Israel.
As we look back historically at who benefits most from a middle east in chaos, it is Israel. Our money, our soldiers, our morality, our ethics and the very basic tenets of our freedoms are being sacrificed to support Israel.
Who is responsible for todays suicide bombing?
One step, just one step by the American government to ease the suffering and humiliation of the Palestinian people and grant them the rights that any human being should expect and deserve, would do more to fight terror than all of George W Bush's wiretaps, invasions and lies.
